CHURCH HISTORY

In 1968 our late Pastor Elias R. Mahinay came to Surigao as a missionary from Bible Baptist Church, Mandaluyong, Manila. His desire is to reached out his mother&rsquos relatives and bring them the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

   He arrived in Surigao and stayed in his relatives at Sitio Tunga-tunga Barangay Silop and Cayawan, Malimono and it was in these places were the work of the Lord was started thru Bible Studies. Due to the language barrier he tried to learn the local Visayan dialect and then applied what he learned with the Word of God.

   Back in Surigao, he started in Child Evangelism thru his accordion. He conducted good news classes in P.Reyes and Navarro Streets. Then he entered colleges. He enrolled in Northeastern Mindanao Colleges (NEMCO) to learned more about the language and most of all to reached out souls for Christ. There as he was giving gospel tracts, he met Bro. Bing Escrupolo a Christian who was his classmates and they began a friendship and partnership for Work of the Lord. They started a Christian Varsity Fellowship in the school and reached many souls for Christ, bible studies were conducted in boarding houses and there he met his wife Maam Fe Nier.Mahinay. Then they started worshipping the Lord every Sunday in the house of his cousin. There many believers were baptized and added to the church. In May 25, 1971 His Pastor Rev. Fred Null  visited the work and organized it to become a Local New Testament Baptist Church with 14 chartered members. As the church grew they rented a wooden two story house to accommodate more people and these become the home for the church for 10 years. God added to the church many believers and it becomes a church now of sending and supporting missionaries to different places in Mindanao to bring the gospel to them.

   By Gods  blessing, the church were able to purchase properties in Espina Village were the Bible Baptist Church building were constructed and many ministries were opened so that many souls will come to know of  Our Dear Saviour JESUS.

  Our Pastor Elias R. Mahinay is now in heaven but his heritage that he left to us will always be in our hearts. THOUGH HE IS WITH THE LORD, HIS LIFE IS SPEAKING TO US. His son Pastor Chad N. Mahinay is now pastoring the church, His eldest daughter Cheryl married to Pastor Ian Fedelis and they are now laboring for the Lord in Magallanes, Agusan del Norte, Ellen the second daughter started the Deaf Ministry in our church.

The Church is continuing growing and winning souls for the Lord and training them in preparation for the work that God has entrusted. To GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
